The Fury of Storm Trami: A Downpour of Devastation



A truck battles against the strong winds and loses control, overturning on the road to Hai Van Tunnel, the longest road tunnel in Southeast Asia, connecting Da Nang city and Thua Thien-Hue province.
The ferocious winds bring down numerous trees, creating obstacles and causing difficulties for drivers on the road to Hai Van Tunnel.
Local authorities have temporarily prohibited all vehicles from using the Hai Van Tunnel to ensure the safety of commuters.
The powerful gales have toppled several trees, blocking the streets of Da Nang.
Residents of Da Nang city are advised to stay indoors and limit outdoor activities from October 27 to October 28 for their own safety.
Local authorities in Da Nang continue to implement safety measures for vessels and maritime activities. Boats are kept in the harbor, and those at sea are advised to seek safe shelter.
Volunteers gear up to evacuate people to safer locations, ensuring they are well-stocked with food, supplies, and essential goods.
In the central province of Quang Nam, over 4,400 households have been evacuated to shelters as Storm Trami directly hits the locality with full force.
As of midday on October 27, the storm’s intensity in Quang Nam province increased, with stronger winds and heavier rain. Many trees were uprooted across the ancient city of Hoi An.
For the safety of commuters, policemen have set up barriers to prevent vehicles from crossing the Cua Dai bridge in Hoi An city during the severe weather conditions.
Localities from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai have banned vessels from venturing out to sea. Four airports in central Vietnam have also been closed due to the storm.
Central provinces are expected to experience widespread downpours from October 27 to October 28 due to the impact of Tropical Storm Trami.
