Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived at Noi Bai International Airport on June 19, beginning a state visit to Vietnam from June 19-20. He was invited by General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Nguyen Phu Trong. On June 20, Vietnamese President To Lam hosted a grand welcome ceremony for President Putin at the Presidential Palace in Hanoi. The ceremony included a 21-cannon salute, reflecting the high regard for the visiting head of state.
