A New Lease of Life: Vietnamese Hospital Performs 13th Heart Transplant Surgery
On Tuesday, the hospital announced the successful discharge of its 13th heart transplant patient, T., from their care. T. had been under intensive treatment for cardiomyopathy for several months prior to the transplant. Following the heart transplantation, a remarkable recovery ensued, allowing him to regain his health and return home. The donor, a 36-year-old man identified as L.T.S., hailed from Ha Nam Province in northern Vietnam. S. was admitted to Bach Mai Hospital in Hanoi after suffering a brain hemorrhage that led to convulsions, a coma, and cardiac arrest. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, S. was declared brain-dead after nine days of treatment. His family, in a selfless act, consented to donating his heart, offering a chance at life for another.
