The Visionary: Uncle Ho’s Legacy Through the Eyes of a Diasporan Artist
The Vietnam Fine Arts Museum is currently hosting an exhibition of 55 paintings depicting President Ho Chi Minh, created by Vietnamese artist Dao Trong Ly, based in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand. The exhibition is a collaboration between the museum and the Association of Thai People of Vietnamese Origin in Nakhon Phanom, and it commemorates the 134th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birth. The paintings on display showcase the life and revolutionary journey of President Ho Chi Minh, a hero of national liberation and a cultural icon. Ly’s artwork captures the pivotal moments in Ho Chi Minh’s quest for national salvation, celebrating his immense contribution to Vietnam’s history. Artist Dao Trong Ly has been managing the Memorial Site of President Ho Chi Minh in Nakhon Phanom since 2018, and it is during this time that he created these paintings.
