The Ancient Town’s Cultural Fusion: Hoi An-Japan Exchange

Hội An, an ancient town in Central Vietnam, holds a special place in the history of Vietnam-Japan relations. Over 400 years ago, this picturesque town served as a bustling trade port, fostering a thriving partnership between the two nations. To honor and strengthen this enduring bond, the local government has actively promoted friendship, cooperation, and cultural exchange with Japanese partners and communities. A key initiative in this effort is an annual cultural exchange program, first launched in 2003, which has since seen increased investment and joint implementation by Vietnamese and Japanese artisans and artists.
