World-Famous Eastern & Oriental Express Train to Run in Vietnam

A number of world-renowned trains, including France’s Eastern & Oriental Express (Belmond), would run on the national North-South railroad, according to the Ministry of Transport. Taking advantage of the favorable weather after the week-long Lunar New Year, fishermen in the southcentral provinces who embark on their first voyages of the new fishing season are enjoying their bumper catches. Fishermen at Tam Quan port in Binh Dinh province are netting bumper tuna catches after Tet. Fishermen in Binh Dinh province are netting big tuna fishes weighing at least 40kg each. A fisherman is excited to net a big tuna fish. Fishermen at Tho Quang port in Da Nang are netting bumper tuna catches after returning to the seas after Tet. Tho Quang port in Da Nang receives 150 fishing vessels each day from February 20 to February 21. Pig Procession Festival Draws Crowds in Hanoi

The Pig Procession is held to honor General Tam Lang, who lived during the 18th Hung King period and fought for peace in Vietnam. He is worshipped as a village deity. Whenever the village faced an enemy, they would prepare a feast of steamed sticky rice and pork to offer to General Tam Lang and his troops before their battles. The festival usually takes place at 6pm. The offerings for the procession include a pig, steamed sticky rice, and flowers and fruits displayed on separate palanquins. The pig, which weighs between 120kg and 200kg, is raised throughout the year. The pig procession lasts for a total of two hours. The procession is led by a lion dance group and a trumpet team to the village’s communal house. The pig’s palanquin is carried by young men selected from the village.
