Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives in Hanoi, accompanied by Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, and Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko.
President Putin begins a two-day state visit to Vietnam, from June 19-20, following an invitation from Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong.
This marks the fifth official visit to Vietnam by the Russian President.
Vietnam and Russia share a long history, with diplomatic relations established on January 30, 1950. The two nations upgraded their ties to a Strategic Partnership in 2001 and further to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2012.
Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s External Relations Commission, and Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia, Dang Minh Khoi, greet the Russian delegation.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, who is also the head of the Vietnamese sub-committee for economic, trade, and science-technology cooperation with Russia, is present to welcome the Russian guests.
The state visit by President Putin holds significant importance, aiming to further strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and Russia across multiple fields.

The Russian President is scheduled to attend an official welcome ceremony and hold meetings with Vietnamese Party and State leaders during his visit.
