The news was released by Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Dai at a meeting with officials from Me Linh District to discuss agricultural productivity.
The last flower festival, themed “Me Linh’s Brilliant Flowers” was a success, attracting large crowds by showcasing and promoting flowers of all kinds, ornamental plants, OCOP goods, and handicraft villages.
According to him, Me Linh District is the leading producer of vegetables and flowers in the city. There has been an increase in the value of agricultural products, which has had a positive impact on the city’s overall performance.
In order to increase the area of high-quality organic rice, the ministry will cooperate with Me Linh District and invest in technology and equipment for the initial processing and preservation of agricultural products, the official said.
Hoang Anh Tuan, Chairman of Me Linh District People’s Committee, hoped that by organizing the Flower Festival every year, the event would become a unique cultural tourism product of the locality to attract more visitors.
Me Linh District, on the outskirts of Hanoi, has nearly 8,100 hectares of agricultural land. Many high-tech agricultural models with investments in modern machinery and equipment have initially achieved high economic efficiency, including an organic Japonica rice production model in Tam Dong commune, a high-tech Phalaenopsis orchid production model in Dai Thinh commune, and another that combines organic rice production with adventure tourism in Tam Dong commune.
Me Linh District has 75 OCOP products, including 24 four-star products and 51 others rated with three stars. In 2023, the district plans to submit another 30 products for three-star or higher certification.
